About the role

Atlas Analytics is a Construction company founded in 1998 and based in San Francisco, United States. As a large organisation of 501 to 1,000 employees, we combine the pace, ambition and ownership of a modern business with a genuine commitment to quality, integrity and the people who work here. Since 1998, Atlas Analytics has operated at the forefront of the construction sector from its base in San Francisco, United States. Its solutions are trusted in dozens of markets and are localised to meet the needs of regional users. You can learn more about us at https://www.atlasanalytics.us.

We are looking for a Staff Solar Design Engineer to join our team, working on-site from our San Francisco office. In this role you will be a key member of our Engineering function, contributing directly to our goals and working closely with talented colleagues across the business.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership and impact. You will apply your skills in PVsyst, AutoCAD and Solar PV to solve interesting problems, ship work you can be proud of and help us raise the bar for what we do. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, share your ideas openly and have the support you need to do your best work and grow along the way.

You will bring around 10 to 15 years of relevant experience and strong, practical knowledge of PVsyst, AutoCAD and Solar PV. Just as important are clear communication, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with people across different teams and backgrounds. Experience leading projects, mentoring others and influencing decisions will set you up for success in this role.

Within your first few months, you will get up to speed with our products, processes and people, build strong working relationships across the team, and begin taking ownership of your own work. Over time, you will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise, take on broader scope and grow your career with us as the company continues to scale.

In return, we offer a supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, competitive pay, meaningful benefits and the chance to do work that genuinely matters. We care about our people, invest in their growth and want everyone here to be able to do the best work of their careers.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. Atlas Analytics is an equal-opportunity employer: we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse team and an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Apply today and tell us why you would be a great fit.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Solar Design Engineer at Atlas Analytics, you will play a central role within our Engineering function and take ownership of a broad and varied set of responsibilities. Working alongside a collaborative, motivated team, your day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Build alignment across stakeholders and resolve competing priorities constructively.
- Own key projects end to end, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring successful delivery.
- Translate strategy into concrete plans and measurable outcomes for the team.
- Continuously monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in reliability, latency and cost.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code, and contribute to shared libraries, tooling and engineering best practices.
- Participate actively in design discussions, architecture reviews and technical planning sessions across the engineering organisation.
- Review the work of your peers, provide constructive feedback and help raise the overall quality bar of the codebase.
- Translate product and business requirements into clear technical designs, breaking large problems into well-scoped, deliverable pieces of work.
- Design, build and maintain high-quality, well-tested and scalable solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Take part in on-call rotations where required and respond promptly and calmly to incidents and outages.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and QA to ship reliable features on agreed timelines.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes to enable safe and frequent releases.
- Investigate, debug and resolve production issues, performing root-cause analysis and putting preventive measures in place.
- Document technical decisions, write runbooks and share knowledge so the wider team can operate and extend your work.
- Stay current with emerging tools, frameworks and industry trends, and evaluate how they could benefit our stack.
- Contribute actively to a positive, inclusive, supportive and collaborative team culture.
- Participate constructively in team meetings, stand-ups, planning sessions, demos and retrospectives.
- Take full ownership of your work, manage your own priorities and consistently deliver to a high standard and on time.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, learning from mistakes and celebrating shared wins.
- Represent the team and the company professionally in internal and external interactions.
- Proactively flag dependencies and coordinate with other teams to keep work moving smoothly.
- Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and keep all relevant systems, tools and trackers up to date.
- Continuously develop your skills, seek feedback and stay current with the latest developments in your field.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, care and integrity at all times.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
